Review Founded in 1851 in the town of Condom, Janneau is one of the largest houses in Armagnac, and it claims to possess ten% of the region’s total stock of brandies over ten years old. Growing all four major grapes, Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard, and Baco, Janneau chooses to blend Armagnacs from all three subregions - Bas Armagnac, Tenareze and Haut Armagnac - under the appellation Armagnac. But what’s most noteworthy is the distillation method here. While most Armagnac houses distill once in a column still, Janneau also employs a double distillation method, similar to Cognac. - From Exploring the World of Armagnac (Jul 2018) by Jason Wilson
