Bottled to celebrate the 200th year of the Ardbeg Distillery and only available from the distillery, this Committee release has a slightly higher ABV % than the standard release version and is aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Tasting Notes: Nose: minerally (limestone) mossy, herbal notes with sea salt spray, pickled lime, earthy smoke, pork fat, black bean sauce, wet sand, smoked green apple, cured meats, brushed suede, soot ash. Palate: More of that minerally, green herb, mossy/seaweed attack from the nose with salted cured meats, smoked cheese, lozenges, green pear, charcoal embers and peppery vanillin oak. Finish: Kale with chilli flake, sweet peppery smoked meats, coffee beans roasted over a peat smoke fire, mossy apples and pears, lime curd. One of the highlights of the many releases of 2015 and one for the many followers of this cult distillery to enjoy or invest in.
