Another welcome addition to the Kavalan range and using the same sherry cask aged stock that goes into the award winning "Solist" range but now bottled at a more easy drinking 46% ABV instead of cask strength but without losing any of the intensity. Nose: Honey glazed ham with caramelised pineapple, fig jam on brown toast, cherry coke, dark treacle, pear tarte tatin, ginger cake, sherry soaked orange slices, some savoury and leather notes along with a touch of old Armagnac. Palate: Thick treacle, roasted nuts, toasted pecans, meat jus from a honey glazed ham, hickory smoke, ripe figs in spiced syrup, sticky dates, prunes in cognac, gingersnaps. Finish: Long, dark and savoury then the sweet honey, cola, sticky dates and nutty caramel hits you. A big and bold Sherry cask and this is Glendronach style but turned to 11 on the Sherry amp! easily one of the best rich Sherry cask aged single malts for under £100.
