100% Seaview Vineyard. Yealand’s Seaview Vineyard is New Zealand’s most coastal vineyard. Here the vines battle against the elements producing small berries with thick skins and wonderfully rich and intense flavors. The Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced primarily from the Q1 Block. This block is situated on a sheltered terrace and mainly consists of Dijon Clones 777. The soils are made up of loess over alluvial gravel. The unique micro climate within this block ensures low yields and warmth. Wine maker notes The low yielding Pinot Noir was picked when a sufficient level of ripeness was achieved. The parcels were cold macerated at 6-8 degrees for around six days before being warmed and inoculated with selected yeast. A quick, hot fermentation proceeded regular punch downs. For malolactic fermentation, the wine was divided between stainless steel (30%) and oak (70%) with the oak divided among new French oak barriques (20%), two-year old French oak (10%) and older barrels. All the lots underwent a light egg white fining, then were blended and filtered prior to bottling.
