The McGuigan family name is synonymous with Australian winemaking. It all began in 1880 when Owen McGuigan settled in Australia’s Hunter Valley. His agricultural experience made him an unwitting viticulturalist, sparking an obsession with wine that would drive future generations. Owen’s son, Perc, was detail oriented and precise; he closely scrutinized the weather, which allowed him to establish benchmarks to produce world-class Australian wine. He is celebrated as one of six inaugural Hunter Valley Living Legends. Later, Perc’s oldest son Brian took the family blueprint international, establishing McGuigan wines as we know it today and breaking into over 20 different countries by 1999. |
