This is a fascinatingly complex Whisky. Distilled at Caol Ila in 2007, the malt was allowed to develop in character for 15 years before being bottled at cask strength. There is warming concoction medicinal notes; lapsang souchong, spiced blackcurrant and liquorice. Tasting Notes: Nose: Medicinal notes with liquorice and herbs lingering the background, tar soap, coal and alluring wood smoke. Taste: Fresh & herbal. Rubbed peppermint leaves, stemmy, damp grass, smoky. Oily, cigar leaves and smoked ham. Finish: Long, peppery, spicy warmth, smoke.
