Margaux is unquestionably the most famous appellation not just in the Medoc, but all Bordeaux. Located on the Gironde estuary and sheltered from ocean winds by a huge pine forest, the vines benefit from an outstanding climate: plenty of sunshine, mild winters and summers that are dry, but not too dry. These are ideal conditions for producing very great wines. The Page de la Tour de Bessan Margaux is the second wine from Chateau de la Tour de Bessan. This Margaux is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a small percentage of Petit Verdot. A perfume of sweet red & black fruits with undertones of forest floor and eucalyptus greets you when tasting. Concentrated and rich on the palate, this shows loads of raspberry and kirsch notes with subtle spice and grilled bread undertones. Smooth and mouth-filling, this wine really shines after a decant and some time exposed to air. Overall, this is a terrific value and definitely one to consider putting away in the cellar for a few years.
