Wine maker notes |
The technical teams at Vina Los Vascos took nearly three years to develop Los Vascos Carmenere Grande Reserve. Special attention was devoted to the Carmenere variety, which has almost disappeared from its native France but is now a flagship grape in Chile. The main objective was to pick the grapes at perfect ripeness, by controlling irrigation and yields and through a selective harvest. The resulting wine charms with its ripe fruit and spicy aromas, some of which are evocative of Chilean cuisine. |

The acquisition of Los Vascos by Les Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1988 was the result of a careful search among more than 100 Chilean wines for one that could meet the Rothschild criteria for excellence. The property has been completely renovated, both in viticulture and viniculture. With over 2,200 contiguous hectares, 530 are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (95%) and Chardonnay (5%). Los Vascos is the largest vineyard in the Caneten Valley of Colchagua and can easily maintain its, ?Estate Grown, Hand Picked, Hand Sorted, Estate Bottled? status. |
